PDA

If Lillie is anywhere near when my husband feels like kissing or hugging me...she puts her hands over her eyes and yells PDA PDA PDA.

Yesterday morning (picture day) she was having a little melt down over her hair and stomped out of the bathroom has her dad was walking in. So he yells after her PDA PDA PDA.

What?

He explains his version of PDA = Public Display of Attitude.  I think I will use this one again. And again. And again. 

Did that just happen?

Working in my office. Emma my 10 year old come to the doorway. She is dressed for this lazy saturday in her favorite pair of gym shorts (with peace signs) and a aqua tshirt. Nothing out of the normal. Then she blows me away.
"Mom...do I look fat in this?"
No.
"Are you sure/"
Yes.
"Ok then"

Cantaloupe Confusion

Dinner Table Conversation:
Dad: Did you hear about the outbreak of Salmonella over Cantaloupes
Mom: Yes. I heard a couple people have died.
Lillie: Is that why you havent been buying Cantaloupes?
Emma: How did that happen?
Mom: They got contaminated
Emma: How did they get contaminated?
Holly: Duh.. By the HORNS
Everyone: (look of confusion)
Mom: Oh! Not Antelopes. CANtaloupe.

Little Joe

My husband loves watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Our DVR is filled with episodes. This summer the girls have been watching Bonanza with their dad most every evening. Yesterday, Holly announces that she has chosen a husband! She wants to marry Little Joe Cartwright. I have to tell her that his real name is Michael Landon and he that he died. "No mom" she replies. "He is not really dead, he just lays in the dirt until the commercial is over. He only gets shot in the shoulder. Or maybe the leg. Never dead shot."

It's All About the Pie

The Schwans man comes over tonight and we are talking about the catalog. The girls are playing the Wii behind me. He is telling about the Holiday Pies. I say "I'm not doing any pies this year" and continue to look through the book. I hear a little commotion and turn around to see Emma Grace consoling Holly as she is silently weeping. "It's Okay Holly" Emma soothes. "I will call Nana. She will make us pie"  Yep. I bought a pumpkin pie tonight.

The 3D Version

Last night we were watching fireworks after the ballgame. Holly was next to her friend Meg and they were really enjoying the show. Then I hear Holly say "Hey Meg..Wouldn't it be so Awesome if this was in 3d?"

Money for the Essentials

Emma Grace has bee very curious as to how I get paid for the work I do. Being a Travel Agent, I work on commission which she knows but its vague to her. Now that I also Substitute Teach she asked me how that works. (the whole commission thing confused her). I told her I get paid a set amount for each day I work and then I get paid once a month. She asked me how I get the money and I told her that it is direct deposited into my checking accont. But I am going to switch it so that the money from that job goes into the savings accounts we have for you girls.
Emma "For College?"
Me "Yes"
Emma "Thank goodness. Can you get me a small refrigerator?"
Me "Probably"
Emma "And when I call you, will you send me some Raspberries"
Me "Raspberries?"
Emma "Yea. You know, in case I have an emergency."
